Happy Valentines Day

*** updated day ***

My First Valentine's Day was so much fun with Mommy and Daddy.

Tipping the cups over was a hit. He also enjoys running into the stack while he is in the walker.

This was too funny, he was sucking, like he was trying to drink from it. If you remember when we first meet him he drank his milk from a tea cup.

Bonding day 9 of 15

Today was an interesting day. Stressful at times, long an exhausting. Not the typical fun loving February 14th that we usually have together. Let me tell you about our visits with Lincoln first then I will tell you about the rest of the day.

Lincoln was more awake in the morning than in the afternoon. During our afternoon visit he was a little fussy. I am not sure if he didn’t feel well or if he was just over tired. He did cough more than normal; I hope he is not getting sicker. Since Lincoln loved his stacking cups so much we decided to bring in all of them. He had fun through out the day tipping the big stack of them over. First thing this morning we changed his outfit. He is such a wiggle worm that it really takes two people to have success with this. Of course, it doesn’t help that he requires multi layers of clothing which takes longer to put on him. I put a 12 month outfit on him today. I feared it would be huge on him and not stay on his skinny body. It was too big but not huge. His “My First Valentines Day” bib was a hit, everyone really liked it. He didn’t seem to be in the mood today to walk with us. He did crawl around a bunch and played in the walker. He LOVES the walker; I guess we will need to buy him one for home.

So I told you we were leaving the hotel and going to an apartment. When Ceric, our driver, picked us up in the morning we had all our luggage with us and thought we were moving right into the apartment before going to the baby house. This turned out not to be the case and we would move in between visits. No big deal. After our first visit we were informed that the key to the apartment was lost and could we go with Gen and Joel back to their apartment for our break? Gen and Joel were kind enough to let us come crash with them for a few hours. It was actually nice we went to the market to buy lunch then hung out at their place. We are thinking to ourselves, this sounds fishy? What is going on and great now we are homeless. We get back to the baby house for our afternoon visit and are told that the owner of the apartment rented it out to someone else who was willing to pay her the full rental price. We had asked for at $10 a day discount. Plus it was mentioned that the owner was not thrilled that we were only planning on staying for a few weeks. She wanted us to rent it for at least six months. So now, we have no idea what is going to happen in the next two hours while we are at the baby house. It took them a whole week to find us that apartment to begin with. Shortly after we arrived to visit Lincoln they came in and told Eric that he would leave with them to go view a different apartment. Neither of us were thrilled he would miss out on time with Lincoln but we did need a place to live. Eric left with them and I just said I guess I will trust you to make sure it’s good enough for us. When he gets back he says “well there is no bed or shower” There is a tub and a pull out couch. Excuse me?? They tell us we will bring bed tomorrow, tonight you sleep on the couch. Ok what about the shower? I am not taking a bath for the next month. How the heck am I going to wash my hair?? The tub that is in the bathroom is one of those garden style tubs in the corner of the bathroom. They are not sure if they can get a shower head and shower curtain for it because of the style. Only good news the washing machine is nearly brand new and we are giving you a brand new microwave. Plus there is a clothes drying rack in the bathroom. Needless to say I am not thrilled.

After our visit we went to the new apartment to drop off our luggage then we went to the business center to have pizza dinner with Gen and Joel to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The pizza at the restaurant is really good. It is better than any pizza near our house in New Hampshire. Yup, better than Domino’s where we eat a couple times a month. We had a really nice dinner, great chats, drank a few beers it was a nice evening to a very stressful day. After dinner Ceric drove us back to our new apartment for the night. We get in, it is late and we are tired. We notice that the apartment temperature is on the cool side. This is very strange because it is hot or very warm everywhere inside. The temperatures are not controllable, the government controls them. So in theory everywhere should be the same temperature inside. We get our pull out couch out and make it up into a bed. We are going to need to take a picture of this contraption. It is not like any pull out that I have ever seen. It was about two feet too short for Eric. It was not very comfy at all. We just kept telling ourselves that they will bring us a bed in the next day or two. It will be okay. The kitchen in the apartment is all right. It just needs a really good cleaning. We have pretty much a full size fridge which is unheard of. The bedroom, living room and bathroom are all pretty big rooms. In addition, to the couch we have a love seat and chair and they both pull out into beds too. We could have 4 or 5 guests if we wanted. Anyone interested in coming over? Bad thing there is no furniture to put our clothes in. I guess we will just keep them in stacks on the floor or in the suitcases. Not my first choice but not that big of a deal. They did bring in a small kitchen table and four chairs for us.

As we were getting into bed and brushing our teeth is when we checked out the internet speed. Yahoo we have 52K. The good news we can now use Skype to call home. I still have not spoken to anyone on my side of the family; I really would like to have a chat with my Mom and Dad!! I'll call you soon, this weekend. Figuring out the time change difference and when we are awake and you are not at work is tough.

Good luck with everything and hang in there. It will all work out for the best...even if you have to lean over and wash your hair in the tub, it's all worth it! Trust me I know exactly what you're describing and have to say I've washed my hair many of times this way because of the same situation!

Keep a smile on your faces!

It looks like Lincoln is having a lot of fun! Great pics!! It sounds like you guys will be roughing it for a while. I remember WHFC did say that the travel experience would be comparable to camping! I thought that would mean a less likely chance of having a dishwasher; I didn't consider a bed or heat as optional!

Patti and I will be traveling on February 25th and will be meeting our child on the 28th! We can't believe it is finally happening!

Happy late Valentines Day! Lincoln's bib is way cute. I cant wait to be able to buy baby stuff again and spoil him rotten. Everytime I see something Disney now for a little boy, I wonder if it will fit and when he is coming home so I can get it for him.

Good luck in the new apratment. I am sure you could make the best out of any place for Lincoln's sake!
