Waiting for our court hearing – day 6

There is a row of kids wooden chairs all lined up here. He loves crawling up on them. He usually sits on them backwards and slopers all over the back of the seat. For some reason he thought it would be fun today to take a crawl along them. Look at that face, he knows we would prefer him to not be doing what he is doing.

Here Daddy is trying to be creative entertaining him.

I'll sit still for these peaches, they are yummy.

This picture was taken this after noon shortly after we arrived before the craziness started. Here he is happily in the walker eating the plastic bears.

Still no news yet on when our court hearing will be. We are starting to get very nervous wondering why it has not been scheduled yet. We were told they had 10 days after the day we submitted our documents to hold our court hearing. We hope they take this law seriously and uphold it. Our translator, Aina did sit down with us this morning and talked with us about what to expect in court. One of us has to give a speech stating our case of why we came to Kazakhstan to adopt and why we specifically wish to adopt, Lincoln. Eric is going to do this for us. I am sure the judge will ask me questions that I need to answer but it is typical for the man to speak for the family here. That is fine with me! Since we did have this conversation with Aina we felt a little better that our court hearing may happen soon.

Our visits with Lincoln today were good, we were very happy to have been able to see him twice today but I have to admit it was our first day that it was more stress for us than fun. The morning visit went more smoothly than our afternoon visit. Lincoln was a champ with eating his different meals with us. He sits down for food and chills out while we feed him. This morning he spent a little bit of time with us playing on the floor. He mostly wanted to crawl around and climb on the small wooden chairs. Our afternoon visit didn’t go as smoothly. It may just have been that he didn’t get much sleep over our break. He did play nicely for the first 30 to 45 minutes but then when more families started to arrive for their visits he got really rambunctious. I think it might have just been too busy in the room, too much commotion for him to handle since he likes to watch and be part of everything. There really was way too much happening today. We now have five families plus translators and coordinators. The baby house doctor was there this afternoon along with several Nannies who kept coming in and out to answer questions. The room was really loud and normally we have a pretty relaxed atmosphere. Hopefully the new families will get settled in quickly and things in the playroom will calm down again.

For our lunch break today Aina went with us to the Istanbul Restaurant (Turkish food). They don’t have an English menu so we needed her to translate the menu for us. We took notes on several different meals so we can now go by ourselves and order. She helped us order today and then she went home. We had hoped she would stay and eat with us but she needed to get home to her own kids. After we ate we then walked back to our apartment which is very close. We watched on CNN some of the NY Philharmonic concert taking place in Pyongyang, North Korea. I believe they aired the whole concert live on CNN but we were not able to watch it all.

This evening we are staying in. It is very windy out again tonight. We don’t have anything special planned. We are both still stuffed from our lunch so we will probably just have something small for dinner. Tomorrow night we might go out to dinner with the lady from Belgium, she is here alone and mentioned to us that she would like to go out but didn’t feel comfortable going by herself. We understand that. Her apartment isn’t too far from ours maybe a 10 minute walk.

I added an accurate weather forecast map to our blog page. It is located on the right side, below the Aktobe clock. It says “Aktjubinski” this was the original name of this city and what the airport is still called. I was hoping it would show both the current temperature and the feel like temperature but it doesn’t. If you want to go to the website that has our forecast and all weather information go to: http://www.wunderground.com/global/stations/35229.html I am thrilled to finally fine a website with accurate information written in English.

Glad things are moving a long - your getting comfy ordering. I hope the court date is soon! I'm sure you are anxious. The NY Philharmonic performance in Korea is quite the news in Nonprofit arts (I used to run a website on that, and I couldnt get away from that story). Sorry you were not able to watch it - neither was I!

I love the close-up picture of his face...you can see every eyelash. So beautiful!

I didn't know about the 10-day court rule. That's good to hear. Is that only in Aqtobe?

Hope tomorrow is calm and enjoyable again for you.
