Bonding day 15 – LAST DAY OF BONDING! YAHOO !!!

Hello

Mommy, don't take my picture. I am eating my yogurt.

Kissing the window.

Gabriel - He is getting really good at making it to where he wants to go by rolling. Lincoln is working on teaching him how to crawl.

Tomorrow we can apply for our court hearing. We are expecting our court date to be on March 3 and we expect to receive custody of Lincoln on the 19th. These days may change we will keep you posted. Needless to say we are so excited we have successfully completed bonding and will now just wait for our court date. Nothing changes as far as seeing Lincoln; we will continue our same schedule.

It snowed last night. We got about seven inches of snow. We have gotten snow other days but this was the first real accumulation. Our ride into the baby house was pretty funny. The main roads had been plowed but the side streets had not been. Cars were stuck in snow banks all over the city. The plow came through and all the cars and buses that were stopped on the side of the street got snowed in. Ceric did a great job driving us we never got stuck. Through out the day we got about three more inches. It is white winter wonderland here again.

At our morning visit, Lincoln was full of smiles. He was nice and calm again today. We just sat and played with his toys on the blanket. Every once in awhile he crawls over to Gabe and “talks” to him. Then he steals a toy and comes back to us. We are all hoping Gabe will learn to crawl by watching Lincoln. I sat Lincoln up on the window sill to show him that it was snowing. He loves looking out the window. He sat there totally amazed, just starring outside. He then started to lick the window. We are guessing because the window was so cold it probably felt good on his gums. It was pretty gross but he was being good and he was having fun. Right at the end of our visit, about 15 minutes before it was ending Lincoln decided to give us another gift today. Yup our second dirty diaper. Since our visit was ending we decided to let the Nanny change him today. She came up to get him and picks him up big smile on her face then suddenly I think she got the whiff….ha ha ha she then gives us this look. Eric says I think that look translate to we should have changed him.

Once we left the baby house we had to go to the notary office and sign the application to apply for our court hearing. Then we had Ceric drop us off at the super market. We picked up a few more things and then we went to the “trailer” to buy a chicken. We decided we needed some meat in our diet today. Now we are just back to the apartment. Eric is taking a nap and I am working on the blog. We did have a bit of excitement our door bell rang and we have been told not to answer the door unless the person speaks English. The person did not speak English but kept pounding and pounding on our door. So Eric decided he would be brave and answer it. It was cop asking for our passports. We were not about to give him our passports so Eric called Aina and had her translate for us. He apparently was looking for the owner of our apartment but we have no idea why. We are guessing that someone in the building probably wants to know why we are living here. Everyone we see gives us a dirty look. We feel completely safe. We just believe our neighbors are not thrilled to have us as neighbors.

We just got back from our afternoon visit. Lincoln was pretty calm for the first hour but then after we gave him his pear juice, he perked right up and was zooming around the room in his walker. He is such a monkey he has figured out how to climb out of the walker. Well he has figured out how to take a nose dive out of the walker. The last half hour of our visit he started to get pretty cranky and yawning. I hope he sleeps well tonight so he is happy during our visits tomorrow.

We signed off on a couple more documents this afternoon for our court hearing. They are suppose to be passing all our documents to the judge tomorrow.

Tonight we are just planning on hanging out in the apartment. Our big excitement tonight will be doing laundry.

** I deleted the Kazakhstan weather info from the blog because it was extremely wrong everyday. For example today it said it was 59 degrees here and it was 17 degrees here. 17 degrees is actually warm for us. The temperature usually stays right around zero or a little below zero. The clocks are correct. **

I can't believe you have already completed your bonding period! Yea!!! Nice dodge on the dirty diaper... I'd rather face a dirty look than a dirty diaper any day. :-)

Congratulations on completing the bonding period; that's a huge step!! Hopefully, they can give you a quick court date and be home by the end of March!

I was worried about having nothing to do over there but you seem to be staying busy. I'm sure that makes the time go by much quicker! Take care!

Congratulations!! Not knowing how the whole adoption process works I was waiting to see what happens after the bonding days. So yes a court date sounds like a huge step. What happens from here? Court date, then what? Sorry, I'm not up to speed. Glad everything is going well for you. Lincoln is so adorable.
