Bonding day 3
Today when we arrived for our morning visit we got to change him into clothes that we brought for him. After we got him all changed we decided to give him a teething biscuit to try. Oh my…he LOVED it but made the biggest mess. His nice new clean clothes were a bit dirty. Thankfully I had a decent size bib on him. Mental note to us, don’t put clean clothes on just before teething biscuits. We lost him for about 45 minutes of our 2 hour visit because he had to go get his eyes examined. He was supposed to get this yesterday when he went to the doctors but when the power went out they could not finish his testing. His cold is getting worse so his nose is really runny and he is not as playful as he was before. He felt like he was running a fever. We gave him some apple juice today. He did not want to drink it out of the bottle till he realized what it was. Then he was ok with it. We were relieved when he did take the bottle. They stop giving babies bottles here once they turn six months old. The bottles they do use have huge openings on the nipples so they don’t necessarily learn to suck. We are still working on getting him to take a pacifier just so he practices the whole sucking thing. It is important for them to have strong sucking skills because they need the strength to learn how to speak correctly. Plus his teeth are bothering him so we thought the pacifier might make him feel better. He enjoys his fingers more for this but the caregivers keep telling us not to let him suck on his fingers. They are afraid his teeth will not grow in straight.
