Waiting for our court hearing – day 8

Nice new boots!

They are letting me touch this?! Since we were having a heat wave here today (37F) the heat was off. After a minute of investigating he realized it was nothing fun and moved on.

Today's chewing on the cow, pix.

Cleaning the outside of Gabe's wipes container.

See how he is sitting? He is always sitting like this. It seems to be a great position to quickly move into a crawl.

How do I get that little ball out??

This is another good sitting position to launch yourself suddenly into a crawl.

Hmm...yup these are good boots both for walking and eating.

"Hey Dad, check her out isn't she cute? She is even touching my hand." :)

Lincoln thinks the translator for the other families is so pretty. He is always watching her and smiling. He is definitely a boy, always starring at all the girls.

Our morning visit with Lincoln today was great. He practiced his walking a bit. He is doing better with the slippers on his feet. He was all over the playroom. I think he was feeling more relaxed today because we had fewer people in the room. He even sat down and played with his toys at our blanket for awhile. We feed him a mixture of raspberries, blueberries and apples. He loved it. It was the fastest he has eaten a jar of food so far and the neatest.

We spent most of our lunch break today out shopping. We picked up an internet card for another family. We went to the mall and I broke down and bought a new pillow. I have been sleeping with a small neck pillow ever since we left home. I couldn’t take it anymore I needed a full size pillow to sleep with. I don’t think I have slept though the night yet. Just maybe now that I have a pillow I will. Here they all sleep on these large square pillows that look like giant throw pillows. They are great for leaning on but not for actually sleeping with. We had lunch at the Mosque Mall café again today. It is great we can both get a hot tea and a couple pastries for less than $5 for the two of us. It is a bargain for lunch. There is a baby store in the mall that we have been trying to go too. It is always closed when we are at the mall but today it was open finally! We really scored big in this store, it was worth the wait. We finally bought Lincoln some drool bibs. You all know how much we have been wanting them. Plus we got Lincoln his first real pair of shoes. They are actually more of a boot. We opted for the boot style because we hoped they would stay on his feet better. His slippers were great accept he kept kicking them off or twisting his foot just right and they would pop off. After shopping we went back to the apartment and started some laundry and packed up Lincoln’s food for our afternoon visit.

Our afternoon visit went great. Lincoln seemed to like his new boots. He took a few walks around the room with them on. When we first put them on his feet, he was sitting on my lap, he kept lifting up his leg and letting it drop back down and he was twisting his feet around in circles. We were imagining that he was trying to figure out why his feet suddenly became heavier. He was sort of tripping over his feet more walking with them on but we think he just needs to get use to having them on. They do of course make his feet heavier. Again this afternoon he just sat on the blanket and played for awhile. Bernadette (French lady) is adopting a little girl and she is from the same play room as Lincoln. She is crawling too. It was fun to sit back and watch Lincoln watch her. She crawled right over to our blanket and started playing with Lincoln’s toys. It was funny, she is stealing his toys?? I guess we don’t have the biggest toy thief in the play room anymore. It is about time he has a little competition. Lincoln just looked at her with this look of “how dare you, take my toys”. I was happy he didn’t steal them back from her. That is something we have been working on with him and Gabriel, to not take toys from anyone else’s hands. Maybe he understands this lesson more than we thought. After I feed Lincoln his juice this afternoon he just sat on my lap for the last half hour of our visit. He did a little talking to me, a little clapping, a little just sitting back and relaxing. It was very unusually behavior for him but I enjoyed his sitting and hanging out. He also decided while sitting there he would see how his new boots tasted. Everything doesn’t matter what it is goes into his mouth.

This evening we are just hanging out in the apartment. We have watched a couple more Dead Zone shows. Eric is now watching Amazing Race. We finished up our laundry and ate a light dinner. Eric had the famous Ramen noodles and I had cereal. We both had some cheese. I tell ya we are eating like royalty here. We have decided we are going to start going out to dinner more the next couple weeks because 1. We are so sick of eating noodles and 2. Once we have custody of Lincoln those last couple weeks we won’t be able to go out as easily so we might as well take advantage now while we can.
