Bonding day 1

They picked us up at 9:30am then took us back to the baby house to visit with the baby. It was a little funny; one of the nurses came into the room carrying a baby. She just starred at Gen and I. We then looked at each other so confused. We didn’t know what we were supposed to do. After an awkward moment the nurse said the baby’s name and pointed to us to come get the baby. It was ours!! When I took him from the caregivers arms a huge smile spread across his face. That melted my heart in an instance! Our visit was for 2 hours. We found out our child was a little show off. He can roll over, sit up, crawl, do a weight bearing stand, can even stand on own for a couple seconds. When we clapped our hands he copied which was totally amazing to us. We were so prepared for a baby that acted like a 3 to 4 month old.

After the visit was over they drove us to a place to have lunch and there was a flea market type building next door for us to go and browse around in. Lunch was ok at this place. It was cafeteria style and honestly we were not sure what we were eating. But it was ok. We did go and browse the market but things seemed to be pretty expensive. Eric bought a surge protector strip for ~$15 and we bought a bottle of shampoo that was about ~$4. We accidentally left our shampoo at the hotel in Almaty. They picked us back up at 3:30 and took us back to the baby house for our afternoon visit. When they brought our baby into us they had a tea cup filled with some type of milky liquid and they showed me how to feed the baby this meal. After the feeding we got down on the floor and played for the rest of the visit. We of course took tons of pictures and video that we so look forward to sharing with everyone once we get home.

After the visit was over they took us back to the pizza place for pizza to go. We are such social butterflies we have dinner plans all ready. J We went to meet Christy at her apartment to have dinner with her and her daughter Zahri. Christy is from the states and she and I have been chatting online for a couple months now. She is leaving Aktobe this coming Monday to go to Almaty to finish her adoption and then to head home with her new daughter. She filled us all in on tips for Aktobe living. Even though Christy is working with Little Miracles, we still have the same team here in Aktobe. So she really was able to tell us what to expect day in and day out. Her daughter is so beautiful! We had a wonderful visit with them and hope to be able to see them again before they leave Aktobe.
