12th day = last day waiting for our court hearing

I didn't catch a great picture mainly because I was shocked and the moment was short lived but here is Lincoln first pull up and free stand all on his own.

Raspberries for you....

Just as I snapped the picture he swung his arm back and just about smacked Eric in the face.

HELLO

THANK YOU, Karla, Ben & Erlan I really like my new bib and bottle. Born to Wild...yes that is me according to my Mommy!

*Last night at 10:00 pm marked our 30 day anniversary of stepping onto the plane in Boston. Yes, it has been 30 days all ready. For the most part it doesn’t seem possible.*

It was a nice spring day here today. Temperatures reached 40F. The majority of our snow has melted over the last couple of days. The drainage system is not great. All roads are pond filled. Some of the side streets you can’t even drive down unless you have an SUV. In between our visits Joel & Gen hung out with us. We went to eat at Istanbul then took a walk around town. We took some more pictures of the area around our apartment. It was a fun relaxing break.

Our Lincoln surprised and impressed us this morning. Eric was sitting on the floor with his legs out in front of him and Lincoln wanted to get to the other side. Normally he would just crawl right over you and go on to where ever he is going but not today. He was leaning on Eric’s thighs then the next thing we know he stood himself up and stayed there for about 5 seconds before he knelt back down to hold on. This was the very first time we seen him stand up without actually pulling himself up to a standing position. We knew he could free stand on his own for a few seconds if we helped him but he is now doing it all by himself. He did it a couple times in a row then he went back to crawling over the top of Eric to get to where he was going. Our morning visit went really well. Lincoln played, crawled around and practiced his walking. When we arrived for our afternoon visit Lincoln looked like they had just woke him up. He had that I’m too tired for this look on his face. It took him a few minutes before he smiled for us. We always feed him just moments after we arrive so we feed him then once he ate he was more alert and wanted to get down to play. We played with him on the floor for awhile and had him practice standing up on his own. We pulled one of the small kids’ chairs over to us and encouraged him to do it. He would pull himself up to standing then he would occasionally just let go and stand there. He would only stand for a few seconds then he would put his hand back to catch himself. He likes climbing up on the chair and sitting backwards in it. He then climbs down and back up again. We are not sure why he likes this game so much but he does. Once all the rest of the parents arrived and brought their kids in the room Lincoln got down and crawled around playing with the toys and the other babies. Toward the end of our visit Lincoln started to get really tired and cranky. He was yawning and frustrated because one of the other babies was eating and it was not time for him to eat again. He cries as soon as he sees a bottle or jar of food. He wants it. Lots of times after we get done feeding him he cries because he wants more so we don’t think he is getting enough to eat. We are going to check tomorrow to see if we can start feeding him more food or just more often. He is moving around a lot more than before so I am sure he is working up more of an appetite these days.

This evening we are just taking it easy at the apartment. We are planning on going to bed a little early tonight so we are all rested for our big day. Neither of us are nervous yet. We have been getting quizzed all week on how to answer the potential questions that we might be asked and we both feel good about the whole thing. Eric finished up the last of our speech today so we are all set. We are very excited and plan to go out tomorrow night to celebrate our success in court.

PS: I am way behind in responding to emails….SORRY, I will try and get caught up later this week. I miss you all !!

It wont be long now and he will be taking those first steps! Just make sure that you have that camera ready so we can all share in the joy.

Good luck tomorrow! I will keep your family in my prayers. I know everything will go great. Know that we will all be there in spirit with you.

Just getting caught up on blog posts as I can't check very often during the week (I'm afraid the internet police at work will catch me surfing!). I can't believe the progress Lincoln had made... if I remember correctly, he was kind of reluctant to crawl when you first met him. You're doing such a great job bonding and developing his skills.
