Happy International Woman’s Day
(It would be a happier day for this woman if she was allowed to visit with her son!)
Karla & Ben invited all of us families to their place for brunch this morning. They have a very nice apartment on the other side of town near where Gen & Joel live. They have a full functioning kitchen, allowing them the ability to make meals. They made us eggs, pancakes, bacon and home made syrup. Plus we had tea and coffee. For desert we had some chocolate bon bons they brought from home and we had oranges. It was delicious.
THANK YOU, Karla & Ben
We really needed the home made meal and great company. It was a nice treat to help us get through the coming week. Hopefully, after today life here will go back to normal. Normal meaning we get to see Lincoln as usual. We have made it past our half way mark so it is all downhill from here. Yes we have bad days and life is taking a toll but we are still enjoying ourselves. No matter how tough it gets we are so thankful to be here. We want to make the most out of this experience. This is our story of adopting Lincoln and every day even bad ones are worth it for him.
On our walk back from brunch we had planned on stopping at a few of the statues around town and take pictures but it is really cold here today so we didn’t do that. It has been snowing off and on. It is a very pretty day out, sunny and snowing. We are hoping to get a warmer day later this week so we can take more pictures. We did make a stop at the super market. We had to buy more food for Lincoln and stuff for ourselves.
This evening we all meet up at the bowling alley for a quick dinner. Eric, Ben and Karla bowled and the rest of us watched and chatted. We ordered cheeseburgers tonight and they were really good. Very close to what we have home, definitely the best that we have had so far here. We had a really nice evening.
We were totally self sufficient today for the first time since we got to Kazakhstan. No drivers or translators all day. We had a fun filled day all on our own.

Yes, you have to look at it as a little adventure. And thank goodness for the camraderie of the other families there all together. It's moments like this that you will cherish and the bad ones you'll look back on and laugh one day. Sounds beautiful with the new snow. If it makes you feel any better - Winter is still here in full force in the good ole US of A as well (we had another couple of inches of snow yesterday and woke up to 8 degree weather).
Great picture of everyone below. These kids have it made, because we know their mommies and daddies.
p.s. everyone else voted and we're all coming to eat at your alls apartment next. ;~)
I have no doubt that this experience will only make your family stronger.
I am really happy for yout that you have other families to share your experiences with. It will make for a great support system now and later on. Of course all of us state side are there for you as well.
We love you all and are sending you all our positive thoughts and energies!
