Appeal Period Day 5 of 15

*UPDATED 3/11/08*

He tries so hard to pull himself up enough to see over the table. He just does not get it that he is not tall enough yet. He knows there is food on the table which is why he wants up so badly.

The the white on the wallpaper is raised. He finds this texture very interesting. He picks at it and has this look on his face like "Why can't I get it off?"

We finally saw our little guy this morning. Lincoln was a little charmer today; he did 3 things that made us really happy. Our whole visit was really nice today but these 3 things melted our hearts.

  1. We both heard him say Dada, which of course made Eric super happy. Eric told me last Thursday that Lincoln said Dada but I didn’t believe him because I didn’t hear it and because I had never heard him make any D sounds before. He also said Baba today which again surprised us both because he has never made any B sounds before. He says Mmm a lot now and he has been saying Aaa for awhile but I can not get him to put the two sounds together for Mama. When I say Mmm aaa Mama to him he looks at me and smiles. Which is cute in of itself but I still really wanted him to figure it out. Eric said he would help me now that he said Dada. He does not by any means know that Dada is for Eric. He just knows it made us really excited so he kept repeating it today.
  2. Lincoln’s little cow stuffed toy that has been in many pictures that I have posted, I took that home earlier in the week so I could wash it. I brought it back today and he was very excited to have it. He was on the blanket playing in between Eric and I and I showed him the little cow and he came crawling over to me, crawled up into my lap, and cuddled in for a hug. We hug him all the time but this was the first time he has ever initiated the hug. For me that was a great Mommy moment. Of course, it only lasted for about 20 seconds then he wanted down but still my son hugged me on his own today!!
  3. I was sitting at the blanket with him and we were just playing with his toys. He loves playing with the wipes container. He pounds on it like it is a drum, he picks it up and licks it and chews on it. It is one of his favorite toys. So we were sitting facing each other and he was just playing drums with the wipes container. He was sitting with his legs folded underneath himself. I grabbed his hands and said jump jump jump to him and he actually started jumping up and down. He isn’t normally into jumping games. But he did it and he was holding my hands and I kept saying jump jump jump to him and he acted it out then all of sudden he started laughing out loud and smiling huge. He smiles a lot normally but this was the first time he really laughed out loud to me. He will laugh if I tickle him but this was really the first true laughter. The “Hey, I am having fun playing with you” starring in my eyes laughing and smiling. It was great. Eric was actually sitting behind us so Lincoln could see him behind me too. Eric grabbed the camera and caught some pictures which I will post.

We only had the one visit today because it is Sunday but it was a really nice one. Tomorrow we should go back to our normal visiting schedule and hopefully we won’t miss anymore.

After our visit we went out to the new mall and had lunch and did a little shopping at the super market. We picked up all the food we will need for Lincoln once he moves in with us. Our cupboards are stocked now; we are ready for him to move in here with us.

After the mall we just came back to our apartment for the rest of the day. We did some cleaning and rearranging of things a bit. We are working on getting this place as child proof as possible. We had a nice relaxing afternoon we even sat down and watched a couple movies.

What great moments you had today! He sounds like such a doll. So excited to meet him. Jake and I made it safe and sound to Cancun. It's 72 and cloudy, but that's better than the 25, windy and no power we left to at 4 am!

Not sure if you know or not but Baba means father in many countries over there including Turkey. Anne (pronounced An-na means mother). He seems like such a charmer for sure.

Oh and to let you know yesterday in the states it was International Woman's Day here too. Never heard of it before myself until you mentioned it the other day and they I heard it on the radio.

I'm addicted to the photos of him laughing. And how great that he is getting huggy. You are so lucky to have such a wonderful little boy.
