Updates from March 21 & 22

Taken on the 22nd - Fast asleep in his crib area Daddy made for him.

I believe I forgot to mention a couple of things that should have been mentioned.

On Friday, we attempted to give Lincoln his first bath. He NEEDS a bath very badly. Since Lincoln is so good at adjusting to new things we figured lets just try the bath tub if it doesn’t work we will do a sponge bath next on another day. Eric put his bathing suit on and we filled the tub with about an inch of water. Then we brought Lincoln in and he got this scared look on his face instantly. He did see himself naked in the mirror and I thought this would be fun for him but I think it just made him more nervous. I doubt he has ever seen himself in a mirror before. So I set him down onto Eric’s lap in the tub the only part of him that went into the water was his feet and he started to cry immediately. We tried to calm him we showed him the water pouring out of a cup. We tried taking him out of the water and just sitting on Eric’s lap while I wipe the wash cloth over him. He wasn’t having it and we did not want him to get too upset so soon so we took him out. He pretty quickly got over it and we dressed him and moved on with our day.

On Saturday, we have been working with him for awhile now to learn to wave. He didn’t show any interest in it for a long time till this week he finally figured out yes I can do this. He of course was waving to himself since that is what it looked like we did it to him. Saturday I started to work with him some more showing him how to wave out toward someone. He didn’t really get it or he got bored of watching me and went off and did something else. When Karla was leaving she waved to him and he waved back (sort of). It was very exciting for me to see him do this. His wave was kind of croaked but still he did it.

Also Saturday night he saw his first fireworks and we stood in our bedroom and watched them out the window. He was so amazed and just starred, every once in awhile he would make a little noise of excitement.

It is amazing how quickly he learns new things and everyday he does something new. He is at that really fun age where he does learn and likes to copy what we do. I am sure you can tell by all my posts we are having the time of our lives with him.

Bath time is always so much fun. He may respond better to the sitting in the sink or just using water from a bowl. But, thank goodness for baby wipes!
