Our 2nd day in Almaty – Day # 56

Having fun with Daddy.

Eating some dough from Mom's pizza. This stuff is good.
This is the face he makes when he is hungry and you are not feeding him fast enough.

Our little Lincoln was not in the best of moods today. We believe his antibiotic is giving him and upset stomach. He was pretty much just grumpy all day today. Little spurts of smiles and laughter but not many today.

At breakfast was the first time Lincoln sat in a high chair and he seemed to really like it. Another good sign of adjusting once we get home. We get free breakfast at our hotel it is pretty good. Sometimes they fry eggs, baked egg dish, some sort of hot dog, grits and usually a pasta dish. Then on another table they a dozen or more types of salads, hard boiled eggs, deli platter, muffins, cereal, tea, juices and coffee. Sadly it is the exact same every day but still its nice to have a meal that is free since everything in this city is pricey.

In the afternoon we took a walk. We walked thru a couple of parks and took pictures near a statue that we are guessing was a memorial for one of the wars. There are yurts set up and we walked up to check them out but they were not open so we couldn’t see inside of them. The weather is just beautiful mid to high sixties. We really do not have appropriate clothes for us or him. Never did we think we would be here long enough to see these spring temperatures.

We found out today that on April 2nd the Olympic Torch will be coming through town. We most likely will still be here then so we are looking forward to the chance to see that. At the very least it gives us something to look forward to instead of being frustrated that we will still be here.

We did get one baby step closer with Lincoln’s paperwork today. Svetlana took us to get his photo taken for his visa. Unfortunately for Linc and me this outing fell during his nap time so he was not a happy camper at all. He finally fell asleep in my arms about five minutes before we got back to the hotel. After getting dropped back off Gen, myself and the boys made our way back to the hotel and found Eric and Joel enjoying a beer out on the patio. Since Lincoln was asleep in my arms and dressed in his one piece coat, I decided to just sit outside and enjoy the sun while holding him. If I would have taken him in he definitely would have woke up while getting him out of his coat.

I know I have mentioned this before but I am still so amazed how crazy the drivers are here. You have to be on high alert when crossing the street even if you have an ok to walk light. They do not care about traffic signals and will just go whenever they feel like it. It doesn’t matter that there are four adults holding two babies crossing the street in front of your car. They will lay on the horn till you get out of there way. Poor Lincoln about jumped out of his skin when a car came within two feet of me and laid on his horn. It is actually safer and easier to J walk across the street.

For dinner this evening we order pizza delivered to our hotel room. It was pretty good but very tiny. It was a good thing I was not overly hungry or else we both would have gone to hungry.

We were in bed and nearly asleep at 10pm tonight. Those of you who know us know that this is completely unlike us we normally are up past midnight any night of the week.
